Pushpa 2 The Rule: Pure Carnage at the Hindi Box Office

There are reports of Pushpa 2 The Rule smashing numbers all over and setting new benchmarks but how does it look in front of other biggies? Pushpa 2 The Rule is winning huge appreciation in the Hindi heartland which is also known as ‘mass pockets’ and ‘mass belts’ and it is true that if films work here then there is no stopping. Recently Gadar 2 and before that KGF 2 had such penetration in the interiors where there are huge number of Hindi speakers but the footfalls at theatres do not come in. Well, once again in 2024, Allu Arjun starrer Pushpa 2 The Rule has successfully penetrated into these markets which in turn will generate huge numbers, numbers that are unheard. This becomes a possibility due to huge crowds and the habit of repeat watching. Bigger centres as in multiplex dominated areas have a lot of options with new releases but in these mass circuits aka the crowded circuits, the options are lesser as not every film reaches them and if it does, there is no interest. And this is why when this audience starts watching a particular film, then they do it repeatedly. For example, Baahubali 2 The Conclusion circuit numbers did not decline as the crowd watched the same film again and again and what happened next is history. The Hindi version alone crossed 5 crore admits in India alone which is a difficult thing now.

Pushpa 2 The Rule Hindi version opened with near Rs 70 crore and then went on with another Rs 55 crore next day which is pure madness and the highest ever two day total in the history of Hindi cinema. And Day 3 is another historic day as the numbers are going to be huge. A film with huge mass appeal is doing record numbers on Saturday in most circuits is madness in itself because these mass circuits erupt on Sunday. So yes, Day 4 is also going to be pure carnage and if all goes well, it can register its highest single day but that cannot be guaranteed as the Hindi version has lesser watchers down South. Which means for a Jawan or a Pathaan, there is a major contribution from South even in the Hindi versions but here the south audience will opt for a regional version rather than the Hindi version and despite this the collections are at record levels which is a huge deal.
