The Plot of Chhaava
Vicky Kaushal starrer Chhaava is based on the Marathi Novel Chhava that is written by the Late Shivaji Sawant. The novel describes the life of Chhatrapati Sambhaji Maharaj, who is the son of Chhatrapati Sivaji Maharaj. The novel is said to be backed with extensive research and is also said to be authentic. The period film features Chhatrapati Sambhaji Maharaj’s issues with Mughal Emperor Aurangzeb. It is set in the 17th century and starts off with an impactful introduction narrated by Ajay Devgn. It is more about Sambhaji’s leadership qualities and his motive of Swaraj and Aurangzeb being a road-block. There is drama, there are emotions, the film is filled with war and action sequences that look convincing and grand on the big screen. The climax has its own charm that portrays Vicky Kaushal’s towering act. It is the soul of the film where every department shines. There are family politics and small mini-plots too.
The Performances and the Everlasting Impact
Chhaava Star Cast includes many actors and all of them have performed really well. Vicky Kaushal excels as a performer. His attitude, built, commanding screen presence portrays sheer versatility. He has put in a lot of effort and is phenomenal in the film. Rashmika Mandanna plays Maharani Yesubai has her moments throughout the film. Akshaye Khanna as Aurangzeb nails his act and is the perfect opponent in the film. Without a strong opponent, no film is fun to watch but here both the forces are powerhouses of talent. Ashutosh Rana has limited screentime but even those limited portions stay with you, as his performance is incredible as always. Vineet Kumar Singh is one talent that deserves more attention due to his immaculate work. He is very natural as Kavi Kalash. Divya Dutta, Anil George, Pradeep Rawat and others lend good support and perform well.
Few scenes have looked very impactful due to the strong dialogues written by Rishi Virmani and Irshad Kamil. The strong dialogues are further elevated by thrilling back-ground score and stunning cinematography. The powerful dialogues include, “Sher Nahi Raha, Lekin Chhaava Abhi Bhi Jungle Mein Ghum Raha Hai”, “Maut Ke Ghungroo Pehenke Naachte Hai Hum” and there are more dialogues but if revealed, your experience may be hampered hence, you will have to watch the film by yourself to experience it.
What could have been better?
The film has scale, scintillating sequences, non-stop action but suffers from a few drawbacks. The background score is stunning but something was missing, particularly in the emotional fragments and in transformation scenes and this is evident in Chhaava Public Review(s). The first block of the first half is gripping but things somehow become monotonous. There is monotony in some parts which could have been easily avoided. Films like Tanhaji, Padmaavat or Baahubali 2 The Conclusion had shown significant planning scenes which were not present in Chhaava. Those kind of scenes are thrilling to watch and in this way, small twists and turns could have been inserted in the film. Chhaava is loaded with action and war scenes but showing some smart planning and strategy building, like the one in Baahubali Part One climax, would have made it interesting as the audience wouldn’t know what’s coming next. These are the kind of films where you know the ending and you pretty much know everything and hence some small unpredictability could’ve done wonders but nevertheless, the film is worth-watching for its merits. And these are small recommendations that could’ve made the film a lot better. Chhaava Movie Songs did not become very popular. If the songs did become popular, then the film would’ve opened with a stronger force, at the box office.
Box Office Opening Note
Inside Box Office will report Chhaava 2025 box office collection not just on the website but on its social media handles as well just the way Chhaava Advance Booking Updates were shared from time to time. The film has opened on a strong note with Mumbai circuit driving the numbers. Mumbai circuit includes Gujarat too and not just Mumbai or Maharashtra. There is strong opening in overseas markets too across North America, Australia, Gulf and Europe. It is better or on par with most of the franchise films of Bollywood released last year. And the film is sure to be Vicky Kaushal’s biggest opener and the year’s biggest Hindi opener by quite some margin both domestically and globally. The word of mouth looks on the positive side which is a good thing. More commentary and reporting of Box Office will be done by our Inside Box Office Team.
