Conventional Plot, but with a Twist
Mere Husband Ki Biwi plot is ordinary but the small tweaks make it appear to be different and unconventional. Ankur Singh Chaddha (Arjun Kapoor) is a Delhi based real-estate professional tries to recover from his divorce and in the process falls in love with Antara Khanna (Rakul Preet Singh). The film covers how Prabhleen Kaur Dhillon (Bhumi Pednekar) and Ankur Singh Chaddha fall in love and why they get separated. Later in the film, Prabhleen wants to get back with Ankur at a point when Ankur has already proposed Antara. What happens in the end and who gets married to whom is what keeps you till the end. This is the main plot with a lot of drama, emotions and comedy. The emotions do work, comedy only in some parts and even the drama, good in some parts, pointless in most. There are other characters who are driving the film but only for a rushed climax without much depth in narration.
Length: This kind of a plot, does not need such a huge runtime. A crispier cut with trimming of excessive material would have made the film better.
Screenplay: Mere Husband Ki Biwi Movie 2025 has a tiring screenplay. The plot was made unconventional but the execution? The screen-writing makes the film highly predictable and stretched with a serial like feel.
Comedy: The writing of comedy is good but the humour does not come out as the actors could not carry it naturally.
Confusion: The film ultimately fails due to confusion. The film is entertaining but it fails to tell you what’s funny and what’s not. The emotional chunks are merged with the humorous portions, thus bringing in inconsistency and the audience does not understand whether to actually feel sad or enjoy it by laughing. No clear indication of what to perceive.
Technicalities: The Flaws and the Pros
The Performances: Mere Husband Ki Biwi Movie Cast has done a fair job with Bhumi Pednekar coming across as the major disappointment. Arjun Kapoor has managed to do well, even though he struggles with the comedy, he is excellent in the emotional scenes as he showcases the character’s vulnerability with full spirit. Rakul Preet Singh has looked very pretty and does a good job as her character has been written well. Bhumi Pednekar disappoints and is very irritating to watch. Her character has been written badly plus her performance isn’t good with her going overboard in certain scenes.
The Music: The music stands out as the back ground score is impactful and the songs are enjoyable as they have been used at the right situations and the songs add a lot of value to the scenes. Gori Hai Kalaiyan is the biggest hit, especially on social media.
The Dialogues: The Dialogues are okayish and could have been better. The one-liners in the first half are fun to watch and listen while the banter between the ladies, in the second half, could have had better lines.
The Climax: The most crucial part of any film is the climax as it changes or modifies the perception about the entire film. Mere Husband Ki Biwi climax has not been very strong. The film has a cameo but if that was driven by a major star then things would have been different. But the basic issue it that it is not well-written.
What could have been better?
To sum it up, Mere Husband Ki Biwi is a decent film at best. Director Mudassar Aziz had enough scope to make a better film but just does not get it right in totality. His previous films have had better comedy with flawless writing. A crispier run-time, better performances, trimming of monotony and a better climax would have made the film better. It is a fresh film if you go by what the industry is currently making, but even then, it does not shine completely. A different set of actors probably would have carried the comedy and the drama in a much better way. The screen-writing could have been much more interesting. An average or below par storyline can be elevated by solid writing but here, the script and the screenplay are below the plot. However, the film is funny and hilarious and it can be a good watch if you have a few idle hours.
Box Office Opening Note
Mere Husband Ki Biwi had a poor opening at the Box Office collecting only about Rs 1.65 crore nett. The number is low but the pre-release buzz was projecting a much poorer start. The film enjoyed benefits of the offer and the weekend trend could have been better if there was no match and there was no blockbuster Chhaava in front of it. The film collected barely anything from the overseas markets. USA contributed $9K, Canada $6.5K, UK $6.7K, Australia $3.1K, New Zealand $2.62K and the total is disappointing. The film will most likely close as a flop.
