Game Changer starring Ram Charan has been one of the most talked about movies in Indian cinema and one of the most hyped Telugu movies ever in recent times. Directed by S. Shankar, the film is nearing its pan-India release on December 10, 2025 but the film’s release could possibly be stopped in the Tamil Nadu region and here’s the reason why.
After a long wait of nearly 3 years after RRR, Ram Charan is coming back to the big screen in a lead role with Game Changer. The film marks his first collaboration with director S. Shankar along with the lead actress Kiara Advani.
According to Lets Cinema, the banner Lyca Productions, has reportedly reached out to the Tamil Film Producers’ Council (TFPC) to stop the release of Shankar’s movie Game Changer, until the director finishes shooting and releasing his next with Lyca Productions, Indian 3.

Shankar vs. Lyca Productions

This move by Lyca Productions comes due to a violation of their contract by the director S. Shankar. According to the contract, Shankar was supposed to finish shooting both Indian 2 & Indian 3 and only after their release, move towards working on another film.
Indian 2, the much awaited sequel of the 1996 blockbuster Indian, featured Kamal Haasan in the lead along with Siddharth, Priya Bhavani Shankar, Kajal Aggarwal and Rakul Preet Singh. The film was released worldwide on July 12, 2024 and ended with a poor-reception commercially critically. Shankar had also announced Indian 3 which remains unreleased as of date.
Due to this violation of contract, the Tamil Producers Council can take action against Game Changer and director S. Shankar. According to various reports, S. Shankar could receive a red card following this violation of his contract by the Tamil Film Producers Council. Notably, Shankar has worked with Lyca Productions several times in the past on films like 2.0 and Enthiran.

Red Card Meaning?

The TFPC popularly issues a red card to actors and directors as a punishment. This action is known to prevent the receiver from working with the producers until they resolve their grievances.
On receiving this red card, Game Changer director S. Shankar and producer Dil Raju won’t be able to release the film in Tamil Nadu until the director completes shooting and releases Indian 3, his next with Lyca Productions.

Game Changer is a political action-thriller made on an extravagant budget of ₹ 450 crores. The film stars Ram Charan and Kiara Advani in the lead along with S.J. Suryah, Anjali, Samuthirakani, Sunil, Nassar and others. It is produced by Dil Raju, Shirish and Adityaram under the banners Sri Venkateswara Creations and Zee Studios. 
Ram Charan’s movie Game Changer Trailer was released on 2 Jan, 2025, increasing the hype for the film to a significant extent. The film features Ram Charan in a double role as Appana and the IPS turned IAS, H. Ram Nandan and Kiara Advani as his wife, Deepika. The Game Changer soundtrack consists of 5 songs and the BGM composed by Thaman S. The 5 song videos have reportedly been shot at a lavish budget of Rs 75 crores.

On the workfront, the Global Star Ram Charan is going to move towards shooting for his next film directed by Buchi Babu Sana, tentatively titled RC16. The film will also feature Janhvi Kapoor in the lead as his love interest. He has also signed Pushpa 2: The Rule director Sukumar’s next, tentatively titled RC17.
